Dr. Rashid, a senior academic in the field of NRM and currently serving as Professor at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet. Dr Rashid obtained three post graduate degrees from University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, University of London, UK and Swedish university of Agriculture Science (SLU), Sweden respectively. He earned a PhD on environmental governance from Western Sydney University, Australia. During his long teaching and research career Dr. Rashid has so far published 40 scientific articles, several book chapters and two edited books. His field of expertise includes but not limited to NRM policy, policy analysis, forest governance, climate change adaptation and resilience, community based NRM, protected area management and biodiversity conservation.

Dr. Rashid is currently a Professor at Department of Forestry & Environmental Science, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. Dr Rashid served in different capacity at university such as Dean of the school and Head of the department.
His salient engagements in the advisory services include: Need Assessment Specialist (Environmentalist) in the FAO project; Co-management Specialist for the World Bank’s PROGREEN funded study; National Consultant-REDD+ Gender Research Specialist under the UN-REDD Bangladesh Program; Team Leader in the study funded by FAO; Consultant, in the study funded by the IUCN, Bangladesh; Consultant in the study titled supported by USAID Bagh project; Research Team Leader in the study supported by ICIMOD, Nepal.
